Office Om uses innovative, unique and evidence-based movement, mindfulness and mindset strategies to improve mental and physical health. We empower people to reduce their stress levels and increase their wellbeing by experiencing techniques that work. I've developed Office Om from my experience as a professional BACP registered counsellor and qualified yoga teacher. Office Om specialises in office yoga (yoga that can be done anywhere and everywhere) as well as introducing people to mindfulness, which I've practiced for over 20 years. Most recently involved in developing and implementing the new staff wellbeing strategy at Cardiff University. This included developing, delivering and leading workshops in topics such as stress management, office yoga, self care, resilience and mindfulness. I also developed and delivered workshops on sleep in collaboration with the National Centre for Mental Health. Another project was designing training for managers in managing mental health, as well as delivering Mental Health First Aid (Wales) courses for staff. I developed resources for the intranet in these subjects too. Before this role was created, I also worked as a counsellor with both staff and students at the University.

I've run my private counselling practice in Cardiff, UK since 2010. This was previously as 'Time for Therapy', and now is part of Office Om. I'm a fully qualified BACP registered counsellor, who uses blend of psychodynamic, CBT, humanistic, solution-focussed and mindfulness approaches. This generally means I listen actively, challenge and support people, both through the place they are in and to the place they want to be. I've particular experience with work-based issues, anxiety, stress, depression, relationships, panic attacks, bereavement and loss, and worked successfully with many other issues too. I've worked for several EAPs such as the Priory, Wellbeing Solutions and Moving Minds.

I developed systems to manage management information, such as timetabling and workload, on a consultancy basis.

I volunteered for Cruse for several years, counselling both individuals and running a bereavement group.

In this role, I travelled to various festivals around the UK, working face-to-face with individuals both to promote the Samaritans service and to support people emotionally. I worked on the selection team and used my leadership skills as a shift leader.

One of a small number of Patent Examiners to be promoted to Senior Patent Examiner level in only six years. In this role, I searched and examined patent applications as well as working on a range of other projects. I designed a spreadsheet based system to manage Hearings work. I was a founding member of the 'Two Minute Smile' team; a finalist in the 'Make Your Mark' challenge which then went on to lead a team offering fun, stress-busting events within the Office. I organised successful 'Informals', a visit day for trainee Patent Agents for several years running. I developed a knowledge of IP beyond patents by completing a Diploma in Law and Intellectual Property. I also shadowed the Chief Executive for two weeks to learn more about the upper workings of the Office including links within the Civil Service. I enjoyed being a line manager and supporting Associate Patent Examiners to do their best.
