Dr. Brigham leads efforts to consult with colleges and universities in order to keep them informed of timely information about the Advanced Placement (AP) program, as well as other key resources available through the College Board. Brigham engages directly with academic leadership and faculty from postsecondary institutions across the country, placing a particular emphasis on AP curriculum re-designs, as well as the AP Capstone program. She is a liaison between member institutions and the non-profit College Board as institutions work together to expand access to postsecondary education, encourage success at member campuses, and, foster completion for all matriculated students.

Working in Academic Engagement for the College Board, Dr. Brigham leads efforts to consult with colleges and universities in order to keep them informed of timely information about the Advanced Placement (AP) program, as well as other key resources available through the College Board. Brigham engages directly with academic leadership and faculty from postsecondary institutions across the country, placing a particular emphasis on AP curriculum re-designs, as well as the AP | Cambridge Capstone program. Her work involves identifying the campus leaders who need to know more about the College Board’s programs, and, appropriately culling that information so that faculty and administrators get what they need when they need it. Her work involves visiting with campus leaders, either face-to-face, or, through technologically-mediated environments. She remains an in-demand conference speaker, and, contributor and advisor to postsecondary issues related to assessment, non-traditional curriculum delivery, non-traditional student populations, and evidence-based credit and placement policies.

As the Director of Academic Programs at CAEL, Dr. Brigham helped architect the ground-breaking online prior learning assessment service LearningCounts. After launching the program, she focused heavily on recruiting, training, and retaining both faculty to teach students on building prior learning portfolio, and portfolio evaluators to assess those portfolios for possible credit. Dr. Brigham also had considerable responsibility in building a network of institutions that would recognize the results of the online service for academic credit.

The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to expanding learning opportunities for adults. CAEL works to remove policy and organizational barriers to learning opportunities, identifies and disseminates effective practices, and delivers value-added services to all levels of organizations interested in lifelong learning. CAEL has been providing colleges and universities, companies, labor organizations and state and local governments with the tools and strategies needed for creating practical and effective lifelong learning solutions.As the Senior Consultant in the Higher Education Services division at CAEL, Dr. Brigham works with colleges and universities across the country to help assess and improve their adult-learner focused academic programs and support services. Special focus is given to coaching and educating institutions on CAEL’s Principles of Effectiveness for Serving Adult Learners. Her work as Senior Consultant focuses heavily on training institutions on the effective implementation of Prior Learning Assessment. She also contributes to the analysis and growth of the ALFI (Adult Learning Focused Initiative) Initiative, a multi-part assessment project that compares peer institutions in areas related to effectiveness, academic achievement, and student satisfaction.

Develop, express and implement a vision for the College of Adult Education. Oversee all curricular matters, including existing five degree plans and development of new programs. Manage a staff of twelve and a faculty roster numbering over two hundred. Direct and systematize operations of the College across the state of Texas. Work inter-departmentally with other colleges at the university. Represent the university in the community. Consider faculty and/or student grievances.

Oversaw the operations of the Austin Center of the Accelerated Degree Program. Hired, coached and coordinated over 80 adjunct faculty members. Served as academic advisor to approximately 240 undergraduates. Managed a staff of two full-time employees. Was responsible for curriculum updates and revisions of all syllabi for the program. Served cooperatively with other departments on campus. Designed and purchased advertisements for the program through area media. Oversaw a 32% growth in enrollment during my tenure as Director.

Oversaw and managed the Folk Arts in Education Program of TFR. Designed curriculum materials for use in public schools across Texas. Taught in classrooms, focusing on traditionality and folklife in classes grades 3-12. Selected and contracted with guest folk artists to work in classrooms. Oversaw the Powwow in the Schools Program, an in-depth education project on American Indian culture and art that involved simultaneous presentations in over 70 AISD classrooms each year. Oversaw the annual Apprenticeships in the Folk Arts Program by working with applicants, evaluating applications and selecting recipients of the award. Supervised VISTA volunteers and one full-time staff member. Raised over $500,000 in grant money through federal, state, city and private foundations. Responsible for all grant documentation and reporting. Photographed and documented special events and artists from TFR roster. Worked on other office projects, including large fundraisers and special performance events.
