I owned a small business for 30 years, was a single mother of 2 and attended Community College receiving my Associates Degree. My past and present community service includes the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, The Abingdon Rotary Club, The Town of Abingdon Council Committees Virginia Cosmetology Association, Barter Theatre, William King, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society and Abingdon High School Athletic Booster Club to name a few. I have served 4 Virginia Governor's on the Small Business Advisory Board representing small business in Virginia, The Cultural Heritage Foundation representing the Creative Economy and the Virginia Tobacco Commission.I became an elected member of the Abingdon Town Council in 2006 - 2018. I served the Town citizens as Mayor for 2 of those 12 years. I received a B.S. from Emory & Henry College in 2012 with a major in accounting and a minor in Leadership in Management. My current position as Director of the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator is a perfect fit. I LOVE small business development and each challenge invigorates me to learn more in my quest to help small business succeed. In 2005 my husband and I helped achieve a United States utility patent for my father, who invented a bass fishing lure, Doublewired, THE Spinnerbait. My greatest accomplishment is my two children and our greatest joy is our grandchildren.....and our animals.
