Most recently, I served as Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, reporting directly to the Secretary of State.Today, I’m a Senior Advisor for Shearwater Global, a strategic consulting firm, as well as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, where I served as a Centennial Fellow from 2018-2019. I also serve as President of Listening for America, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to connecting people to the design of trade policy, where I’ve led our work to engage a cross-section of Americans in informal conversations and focus groups on discussing their experiences with international trade.Prior to assuming my role as Under Secretary of State, I spent seven years as Vice President of Worldwide Government Affairs at Apple, where I headed a multinational international team responsible for the company’s federal, international, and state and local government relations and public policy.I also served as Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Europe & the Mediterranean, where I coordinated U.S. trade and investment policy for the region. I also took a leading role in many of the most important U.S. trade negotiations in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and North Africa, including serving as lead negotiator for the U.S. Free Trade Agreements with Joran, Morocco, Bahrain, and Oman.
