 Drafted the book chapter “Neurotrophic regulation in neurorestoration of brain” which was accepted for publication in the book “Homeostatic Control of Brain Function” (2014) Generated one orphan G protein coupled receptor expression vector and transfected into Drosophila S2 cell line for further ligand-receptor interaction and downstream signalling pathway analysis, which will be part of a patent application (ongoing) Led the project to study the effects of novel herbal formulation JSK on acute spinal cord injury in rats, which was published in a peer reviewed journal and selected for press news (2013) Designed and executed experiments to study guanosine effect on neural stem cells; the results were published in a peer reviewed journal (2013) Supervised a project to study enteric glia neurotrophic effects and drafted the paper which was published in a peer reviewed journal (2012) Directed R&D efforts for the study of guanosine effects on lung cancer cells; the results were published in a peer reviewed journal (2010) Submitted project results to the 4th Stem Cells Research and Therapeutics Conference in Boston and was invited to make an oral presentation (2008); the paper was published in 2009 Major contribution to the project to study guanosine effects on neurogenesis in rats with parkinsonism; the results were published in a peer reviewed journal (2008) Participated in research projects to study the effects of curcumin on Alzheimer’s disease, and the effects of guanosine on ischemic stroke, etc; related results were published  Oversaw, trained, mentored and guided 3 Master’s, and 8 summer and fourth year thesis students in their work

 Designed, conducted and completed research to isolate chitosan producing bacteria, identify the strain, purify and analyze the protein, gene clone the enzyme and generate expression vector for protein expression; the results were published in 2 peer reviewed journals  Submitted several grant applications and three were awarded: Production of CoQ10 with Agrobacteria tumefaciens; Germline Cell Cycle Arrest in Caenorhabditis elegans; and fermentation of natural fibre waste to produce L-lactic acid. The latter one won the Institutional Industrialization Research Award in 2003 Participated in the organization of the 4th Ion Beam Biotechnology conference and arranged the weekly lab seminar as lab manager Edited lab annual reports (2002 and 2003), in both Chinese and English Implemented a new protein separation and purification laboratory infrastructure, including instruments like microbiology fermentation reactor, FPLC, membrane filtration separation etc., which became the working platform for protein purification in the institute
