This office was established under my leadership and is responsible for complete procurement, contracting, design and construction oversight of Mason’s largest ever Capital Building Program. Projects included within this program include a $120M new high profile academic building located in the heart of campus and a $50M underground utility replacement project impacting highly visible primary and secondary circulation paths in the campus core. Developed the Initial 6 Year Capital Request and managed procurement of A/E and Construction Manager through competitive RFP process.Currently managing 16 design phase contracts ranging from A/E and CM at Risk to Survey, Geotechnical Services, Environmental Impact Reports, Hazardous Materials Identification and Commissioning Services.Established a new project office with staff of 3 currently.Working with a wide range of project stakeholders to shepherd the project through the design phases at the same time working through the regulatory and budget approval process. Regularly present progress and obtain approvals from Mason’s Board of Visitors. In addition to work on setting up this large building program, I also led the planning and execution of two highly successful Presidential level planning initiatives to develop visionary plans for two of Mason’s significant real estate assets.

Established in 2008 under my leadership, Office of Campus Planning (OCP) oversees strategic facilities planning, campus master planning, long range utility planning, architectural development standards and guidelines, landscape standards, interior design standards, university wide space management standards/guidelines and campus art standards. This unit leads University Capital Planning, as well as liaises with Facilities Project Management and Construction, academic and business units to ensure campus plans incorporate mission requirements. Successfully developed 7 Capital Plan submissions averaging $1B six year campus development plans. Oversight and management of a diverse team of highly motivated individuals including University Architect, Office of Space Management, and Office of Campus Planning totaling 10 staff members.Key liaison with external constituents including university appointed member of Fairfax Campus and Arlington Campus Advisory Boards.Comprehensive planning and design oversight for over 40 new construction and renovation projects executed since 2004.Oversee and coordinate planning and design activities of local, national and international architectural and engineering firms. Develop all technical land, building and space programs. Created template for Pre-Planning Capital Budget Request recognized by DPB/BCOM as standard to work toward for other Virginia agencies.Serve on a wide variety of University Committees, including of note, Space Administration Committee, Land and Building Committee, Strategic Plan Implementation Committee, Multi-Campus Strategy Committee, Classroom Advisory Committee, Student Service and Spaces Advisory Committee, and Learning Environments Group.Primarily Responsible for stewardship of existing University Master Plan created in 2002 along with other more recent precinct plans.
