Oversaw/managed the purchase, inventory, replacement, operation, integration of all information technology (IT) systems, equipment, and servers and security through subordinate staff. Managed and administered specific budgetary divisions including City Manager, City Attorney, IT, general government buildings, City/County Government Center, and CIP. Participated in the administration and preparation of the annual budget, CIP, and CRP. Managed the City's performance improvement and lean government initiative programs. Responsible for grants research and administration. Served as staff support to the Joint Powers Board for the City/County Government Center, Lean Team, Bicycle Committee, Affordable Housing Task Force, and Comprehensive Master Plan committee. As a reserve certified law enforcement officer, I was appointed by the Brookings Police Department to supplement and support, without supplanting, law enforcement officers of BPD as a member of the reserve law enforcement officer unit, and I act in that capacity without compensation except in an emergency, or as permitted by SDCL 2:01:07:03 and 2:01:07:03.01. Reserve officers must meet the same minimum standards as a certified law enforcement officer, as set forth in SDCL chapter 2:01:02. I maintain and exercise full police power (i.e. powers of arrest) and I am duly authorized to carry a firearm.

I was fortunate to receive an offer to become the first-ever Assistant City Manager of Brookings, SD as a result of participating in the fellowship after only nine (9) months.Project manager responsible for special projects for the departments of IT, HR, Asset Management, Police, Fire, and E-911. Created streamlined forms to document applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
