Our focus is moving past the ‘theatre’ to deliver sustainable results in the local economy while showcasing the strengths of the local community.

Managed a Branch of approx 40 across Economic Development, Community Development and Safe City sections. Oversaw the creation of a new (strength-based) Community Development Strategy, a people-centric Economic Development Strategy, the Creative Industries Action Plan and development of the resident-led Placemaking approach to revitalising Ipswich Central. Developed contectually-relevant responses and support packages to local small businesses during Covid and led the Economic Recovery Taskforce following the 2011 floods.

The CDO role of Brisbane was introduced in 2012 to lead the digital transformation of the city's economy. The role strives to build capability and connectivity with Brisbane's digital and innovation ecosystems, to drive growth of high-value, future-facing industries.Small business and startup growth have been two significant focus areas of the role. As Panel Chair I facilitate the interviews of up to 4 panelists, all respected marketing professionals, at each Networx event. With an audience of 80-120 enthusiastic and often vocal marketers, Business Managers and Owners, my role also involves fielding audience questions and ensuring the panel discussion is informative, engaging and entertaining. Research and 'learning by absorption' is a crucial skill for this gig as I often need to synthesise information 'on the fly' in order to make sense of it for the audience.
