Afrer falling in love with environmental consulting, she worked for 20 years on adding degrees in Geology, Civil Engineering and Environmental Management to her original Dartmouth Government degree - completing a PhD in Civil Engineering/Water Planning - while working for environmental consulting firms, water agencies and research institutes. She became a recognized expert in clearing barriers between Scientists, Engineers, and Policymakers on collaborative solutions to complex water challenges and clearing barriers to Water Innovations. When she explored returning to work, she discovered she had already "aged out" of the industry by her early 40s.In 2012, she began a new path, working to develop online media, education, WaterTainment and leadership programs for Water Professionals and Entrepreneurs, founding WaterCitizen (now a 501(c)3 nonprofit). She worked to make these transformative events & programs online, increasing access in an industry dominated by large organizations with travel budgets to cover trips to in-person meetings and events. WaterCitizen has often focused on Underrepresented and Underresoueced Water Professionals and Innovators. She has conducted 1000s of media interviews as well as 100s of research interviews including 100s of Women Water Leaders, identifying causes of the Water Industry's lack of access to female talent in leadership levels. Since 2023, she has produced in-person the Water Startup Matching Extravaganza (WaterPitch.org), Matching Water Startup Founders & Entrepreneurs, Investors & Funders, Clients & Startup Programs to Advance Innovative Solutions for Water Challenges.
