In a development of my previous role, this new position has seen me taking a more prominent place in the grant process at LCF. I have stepped up to play a leading role from application to outputs in LCF's multi-pronged UK Shared Prosperity Fund output in Boston Borough, East Lindsey and South Holland, distributing over £1.5 million to community organisations, social enterprises and creative youth provisions. This post has also allowed me to become a front facing member of the team, reaching into communities to build relationships and improve understanding of our local communities, particularly on the social enterprise agenda.

Starting part-time during breaks from university, I am now a full-time member of the LCF team. In my role at the organisation, I have been involved in the distribution of hundreds of thousands of pounds of grants to individuals and groups across Greater Lincolnshire. I have had the privilege of working on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund GRASSRoots Grants scheme, helping local organisations and groups level up communities and place; played a pivotal role in distributing individual grants as part of the Household Support Fund LCF runs in part for 5 of the 7 Lincolnshire districts as well as starting to lead on grants with our youth engagement work. I have grown through this period, surrounded by a team who have and continue to teach and better me in the skills involved in grant funding.

Between my 1st and 2nd years at university, I spent time working as a shelf stacker at Waitrose in Stamford, England through Berry Recruitment. Through this work, I continued to build up some of the skills established in previous roles. Teamwork was vital to this job since as a team, it was important for us to ensure the whole shop was presentable before it opened. This meant working in roles set out by the team leader and helping others where needed so that the stock replenishing process was successful. Time management and organisation were also important to ensure all tasks were completed before shifts ended. Again, visual merchandising was key as I had to ensure I took care in presenting stock to a standard expected of stores nationwide.

My role as a Retail Sales Assistant at Cotswold Outdoor made me much more confident as a person as I needed to engage with customers to ensure that queries were fulfilled and that I was certain they were getting suitable equipment. The role also introduced me to visual merchandising, a concept I have learnt which helped ensure that all the items in store were in the correct locations and in presentable order. This role unfortunately came to an end as the store closed due to a company restructure.
