I work for my parents’ company as a cybersecurity consultant and everything that involves software. I pearly act as a first call whenever our work truck’s camera stops working, or the software. I also communicate our IT problems with either Penndot or one of the other construction companies we are working with. My role doesn’t stop there, I also act as a secretary during the summer and winter months filling old/closed jobs and keeping inventory. Each week there is always a new headache, either a major glitch with email, and all of our emails get deleted and I spend an hour getting them back; or the camera stops working and I have to see whether it is a Softwere or Hardwere issue. I learn every day about the world of IT, and the construction industry.

During my brief time working at this summer camp, I made friends for life out of my co-workers. I would often have to work from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. five days a week, It was long but fun work, the pay was terrible but the experience was that of legends. Being a summer camp our pool was a lake, a small sectioned-off part, but still a lake. It seemed like every day something happened either a snapping turtle in the beginners' area or a kid having an asthma attack. Or a pop-up thunderstorm in which three lightning strikes occurred within one mile of the lake. I got more experience there in two months than I have in an entire year, I would highly recommend it, great bosses, and even better staff.

I first started with Repairing my friend's computers just for fun and money, then from there, it sparked a lifelong love for it, that I have been able to use to further myself. After Two and half years of computer repair, COVID-19 hit and I was out of work so when all lawncare businesses closed in 2020 I started mowing my neighbors' lawns and removing weeds. Hours were long and the pay wasn’t the best, but it was something. This past summer, I worked as a self-employed repairman, installing small electronics, doing wiring, and plumbing work, and the last project was renovating a small bathroom.

I worked within a fast-paced and high-stress environment, most days I worked 5 hours and on the weekends I worked 6, During this time I was in the last few months of school. I worked everything from Fry Cook to Delivery Driver, Dish Washer, and taking orders. I had to leave because I found an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

My day-to-day wasn't that glamorous, I would often start the day off at our IT help desk. If there was anything small ex. "my Chromebook won't turn on", "What's the Wifi password", or "Can I borrow a charger?" the stuff that takes very little training. The most difficult thing we had to do was at the end of the year, the IT department would collect every Chromebook. My fellow interns and I would catalog all of them! It was a great experience, we weren't paid, but it was fun learning how Chrome OS worked or even how computers worked. This Internship did start a small passion in me, to help people, to make a difference, and to work for enjoyment and not because I have to. I learned how to talk to people during my internship, you would never know it now but in high school, I had social anxiety; conversations scared me, and sometimes they still do, yet I was forced to talk to new people every day. I learned to overcome them and by doing so it has opened so many doors.

I kept score for soccer games, It wasn't bad pay 10.00$ an hour, and every once in a while pressed a few buttons. I would get to do my homework while on the job; I eventually quit, because I realized that this didn't need to be a job. Two other stations within that room could easily take over my station, making everyone's jobs that much easier. It did teach me about how you can not expect your boss to respond on time, no matter how great they are/were.
