The systems librarian provides customer service and training for DALNET members in the various work areas in the Alma/Primo library services platform (LSP). Problem solving skills are needed to aid consortium members with various issues and technical problems. For proper use and understanding of the LSP, the systems librarian must create written and digital training materials and instruct in-person as well as remote workshops. After 20 years with one vendor, the migration in 2016 from SirsiDynix’s Horizon system to Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo system was challenging for the membership. An added responsibility for the systems librarian has been to assist our members learn the new system as well as handle various emotions that surround change.

During my time on this board, the association was the Michigan Library Consortium. It's mission was "to facilitate sharing resources and to collaborate with other organizations to benefit Michigan libraries." In 2010, MLC (Michigan Library Consortium) merged with INCOLSA (Indiana Cooperative Library Services Authority) to form the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS).

This position required the manager to be in charge of the ILS and communicating and training of features and issues to staff at the Benson Ford Research Center. The manager was also responsible for oversight of both external and internal interlibrary loan functions through OCLC. Following and adhering to the fiscal year budget covering the ILS, the book budget, and the periodical budget was integral. This position required supervision of both paid and volunteer staff.
