I help voters take part in the election process in an efficient and accessible manner. I am routinely in contact with voters who have questions about how, when, or where to vote, and I take particular focus on voters who may be disadvantaged due to disability, homelessness, language barriers, or otherwise. I am also tasked with entering sensitive voter information with extreme care and attention to detail in accordance with federal and state law.

As an apprentice at Forum Communications, I developed a greater scope for how media organizations operate. I shadowed several departments around the company with particular focus on the features team, where I had two feature articles published in the Forum of Fargo Moorhead. This involved gathering story ideas with the team, developing a story concept, researching and interviewing leads in the community, and producing feature stories for review by the lifestyle editor.I also spent considerable time with the audience engagement team where I would review analytics of stories on our website as well as our engagement across social media platforms. My other task was to monitor trending stories and topics nationwide to be picked up by our publication, and to subsequently write and publish those stories.

Flypaper is the student-run ad agency at MSUM that provides services to both campus groups and private businesses in the Fargo-Moorhead area. I was the Communications Specialist during my semester with Flypaper, which had me tasked with copywriting and design for incoming projects as well as the direction and ideas for those projects. My main project was copy and ad design for the 2018 Fargo Marathon Magazine which has a readership rate of around 20,000. I also designed business cards and letterheads for a non-profit called Keeping U Afloat, and was on the social media team for the MSUM School of Communication and Journalism Facebook page. I gained invaluable agency experience and guidance through the professors and students at Flypaper and further developed my skills in communications and graphic design.

I used problem-solving skills and genuine, straight-forward communication to guide customers toward the technology solution that would fit their needs the best, and by doing that I was consistently in the top quarter of my team in total sales and positive customer feedback.

I assisted the Director of Marketing with the promotion of properties for sale, as well as retention and recruitment of Realtors in the Fargo-Moorhead area. I photographed new homes with a focus on key features that prospective buyers were looking for according to market trends. I then edited the photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to be posted on our Facebook page and used in promotional print materials. Another project was a redesign of documents given to prospective Realtors showcasing the benefits of working with us. I was given a list of information to include and asked to design in a classic, professional look utilizing the existing colors and logos of the company using Adobe InDesign.
