In February of 2011, BP Australia Pty Ltd, purchased Reliance Petroleum and took over control.Having previously worked for the company for 2 years prior, I was approached by Reliance to come back and work in the finance team during this period of restructure and organisational change. One of my strengths is the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders alike, which is important as I need to cater for the information need of BP Australia, whilst they're understanding the dynamics of the Reliance business, as well as satisfying the financial information needs of key management staff within our own group.My key responsibility was leading the month-end close process and providing internal monthly management reports for BP Regional channel of BP Australia. In addition to this providing commentary on the monthly results and analysing the monthly P&L and Balance Sheet, with analytics on product margin a key focus. I was the Systems accounting for Technology One, which included maintenance of all chart components, general leger, executive information enquiries and report development from XLone. Along with investing surplus funds in higher interest earning accounts, generating greater interest revenue, due to controls slipping in regards to cash investments.● Council had recently changed their accounting system over to Civica Authority, however their general ledger was only half completed, so I performed the role of systems accountant and created the remaining unfinished general ledger, maintaining the integrity, loading budgets in and ensuring financial information was flowing to appropriate cost-centres. There was also a new reporting tool called PowerBudget which extracted the information out of Civica, I did a lot of work maintaining the integrity and manipulating the variables to ensure it was extracting and reporting financial data in the right format. I trained staff on how to use PowerBudget, which enhanced their abilities to perform day to day tasks.
