About Chris Curran

Chris Curran is a Professor of Practice in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. He works with engineering students as they learn how engineering fits into established and start-up businesses. He also directs the Engineering, Inc. student incubator where members apply Lean Startup concepts to explore their ideas in the context of a commercial business.He was co-founder and CTO for PwC’s New Ventures SaaS incubator focused on identifying and growing new digital products. He established a Lean Startup environment from scratch that incubated and launched 8 commercial software products, leveraging practical applications of cloud-based open source tech, several using advanced machine learning and NLP. Over Chris’ management consulting career, he designed and led the implementation of high-value technology innovations, organizations and initiatives that created tangible value for his clients spanning industries including consumer products, internet banking, high tech, property and casualty insurance and health insurance.Chris is the founder of PwC’s Global Digital IQ Study, in which over 2,000 C-level business and technology executives express their beliefs about Digital and IT’s role in economic competition.Chris regularly contributes to business and industry journals, including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, CIO Leadership Forum, CIO Insight, Investor’s Business Daily, Baseline, Optimize, and Insurance and Technology. He also created the award winning CIO Dashboard blog (on the shelf for now). Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Texas A&M University and continues to stay active in the Texas A&M community.
