Participated in the implementation of multi-faceted Red Tree Vole research in the Oregon Coast Range.Conducted climbing and ground-based surveys to collect spatial/numerical data regarding nests and host trees.Worked cohesively in a small team to perform safely and efficiently in adverse field conditions.Utilized, maintained, and organized a variety of forest survey equipment, climbing gear, and work vehicles.Other duties included: navigation through off-trail forested landscapes, rigging via crossbow, arboreal installation and retrieval of remote cameras, collection of GPS track logs, data/photo management, climbing rescue training, GIS analysis, and remote camping.

Assisted Exploratory Geologists in the field and core lab settings.Responsibilities include: soil sample collection and field observations, GPS navigation, rock core preparation and measurements, Excel data entry, core cutting utilizing rock saw, curated core photos, transportation of samples utilizing skid-steer loader, core lab organization, and miscellaneous tasks around the mine.Work was completed independently or part of 2-person team.

Provided statewide field support to 8 remote crews collecting AIM data. Assessment, Inventory, & Monitoring (AIM) is a standardized protocol used for collecting vegetation and soil data. Assisted crews with: logistical planning, data collection, work flow, and general field living. Other tasks included working/ camping in adverse conditions, off-trail navigation, UTV trailering/operation, 4x4 driving in remote areas, characterizing soil horizons, plant ID, administrative paperwork, data entry, and wilderness first aid training.

Worked under the guidance of the Outdoor Recreation Planner for the Palm Springs-South Coast BLM Field Office.Responsibilities included: surveying permit sites, trail condition and counter data collection, front desk operation at Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center, wildlife water source data collection, and miscellaneous tasks such as replacing signs and transporting plantings.4x4 driving and hiking 10+ miles per day was required.

Lead a 3-person field crew under the direction of the Rawlins BLM Field Office.In addition to the AIM protocol, IIRH was also implemented. Interpreting Indicators of Rangeland Health (IIRH) is a 17-indicator qualitative range assessment. Lead responsibilities included supervising two technicians, logistical planning, project partner correspondence, managing a Microsoft Access database, administrative paperwork, report writing, quality control checks, and maintaining safety/situational awareness. Other tasks include working/ camping in adverse conditions, off-trail navigation, 4x4 driving, collecting GPS and photo points, characterizing soil horizons, plant ID, data entry, burrowing owl monitoring, timber assessments, Aquatic AIM sampling, and wilderness first aid training.

Worked under the guidance of NPS biologists at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.Duties included: chemical, biological, and mechanical control of invasive species, peregrine falcon monitoring, bat surveys, cave HOBO data logger collection, hemlock woolly adelgid monitoring, amphibian egg mass surveys, and trail maintenance. UTV trailering/operation, off-trail navigation, tool use, and the application of GPS units and camera traps were also used.

Conducted AIM/IIRH surveys as part of a 3-person field crew; based out of the Ely BLM Field Office.Other tasks include collecting GPS and photo points, identifying soil characteristics, collecting vegetation composition and distribution data, plant identification, processing and QA/QC of databases, post-processing GPS points, data organization, and contributing to report writing.

Performed a variety of duties including Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) laboratory tasks and research, water sampling on Lake Erie, radio telemetry, mist netting, preparation for community outreach events, and trail maintenance at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge.
