Hello! I'm Carolina (she/her/hers) and I will soon graduate with a PhD in Atmospheric Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Bieri (she/her/hers) is a PhD student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests include land-atmosphere interactions, climate modeling, and long-term atmospheric predictability. She is passionate about increasing accessibility of scientific careers among those typically excluded from the earth sciences, including racial/ethnic minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. As a master's student, Carolina completed an observational and modeling analysis to elucidate relationships between soil moisture, temperature, and atmospheric circulation patterns in southeastern South America. Moreover, Carolina was awarded a Fulbright grant to carry out research related to her PhD at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. She is also proud to be a recipient of an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Minority PhD award. Carolina is an active participant in her campus community, previously serving as President of the UIUC Department of Atmospheric Sciences Student Organization (DASSO), as well as a board member of the UIUC chapter of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). Carolina completed her bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Science at Cornell University.
