Dr. Craig Blurton is CEO and Founder of Global Learning Innovations Ltd. (GLI) and Co-Founder and Senior Advisor to The Harbour School (THS), a progressive international school located in Kennedy Town, Hong Kong. Previously Dr. Blurton was the Director of The GLOBE Program (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment), a U.S. government interagency program funded by NASA, the National Science Foundation and the U.S. State Department, that involved over a million primary and secondary students in more than 16,000 schools in 107 countries worldwide. In this position, Dr. Blurton was responsible for managing the work of 38 staff members locally, hundreds of volunteers internationally, and an annual budget in excess of $10M USD.In the past, Dr. Blurton served as the Head of the IT & Teaching Group at the University of Hong Kong (1996-2003), Associate Director of the NASA Classroom of the Future (1992-96), Director of the California Technology Project (1987-1992), a tenured Associate Professor of Science Education and Director of the Elementary Summer Technology Training Institute (ESTTI) at California State University San Bernardino (1985-87), and Assistant Director of the Arizona State University Computer Institute (1984-85).Craig earned his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1985. He has served as an advisor to the U.S. National Science Foundation, U.S. National Research Council, NASA Headquarters Education Division, and the IBM Corporation as well as serving as a consultant to educational organizations. Craig is the author of four book chapters, including one for UNESCO’s 1999 World Communication and Information Report titled “New Directions in Education.” He has published over 50 articles and presented his work at more than 100 national and international professional events and meetings.
