Christopher Boone is a Director of Ice Research at Catamount Hardware. He possess expertise in css, javascript, ruby on rails, html 5, ruby and 35 more skills. He is proficient in French. Colleagues describe him as "Chris knows his stuff. He has a rare combination of creative and technical skills, is super smart, thorough, and easy to work with. It's nice to have complete confidence in someone's work.", "Chris is a real pleasure to work with. He has a keen sense on developing optimal web solutions. In addition, he's a great designer with excellent communication skills. I highly recommend Chris.", and "Chris is a skilled designer with a keen aesthetic sense of how to present information clearly and in the least invasive manner. That much is clear from his portfolio. What isn't necessarily clear just from looking at his portfolio is just how darn smart he is. Rather than being a great designer who knows a little bit about the technology behind websites, Chris is more like a really sharp generalist who happens to be great designer too. Chris has contributed to Lingr in just about every way- from the design of the site to the implementation details on the back end. We're lucky to have him."

Associate DirectorPivotal Labs / Pivotal Software Inc. Nov 2013 - Nov 2017San Francisco, California, UsI ran the Pivotal Labs consulting practice at our headquarters office in San Francisco. Pivotal Labs was an industry-leading consultancy, specializing in agile software design and development. The success of our approach was due simply to the fact that we chose the best practices we could find, we followed those practices rigorously, and we kept our feedback loops tight. -
Engineering ManagerPivotal Labs / Pivotal Software Inc. Apr 2012 - Oct 2013San Francisco, California, UsI helped our software engineers work successfully and I worked with the directors and management team to help make the office a better place to work. Our consulting practice doubled in size during the time I was a manager, and one of our main areas of focus was how to preserve the essential parts of our culture and community as we grew and changed. -
Agile Software EngineerPivotal Labs / Pivotal Software Inc. Apr 2011 - Mar 2012San Francisco, California, UsI test-drove and pair programmed on client projects. I was a project anchor (team lead) and worked closely with designers and product managers. Some projects were focused on execution (getting an MVP in front of customers, scaling a system, etc.) and some projects were focused on coaching, mentoring, and training (building a team who understand their codebase, creating an engineering culture, providing a well-tested and well-integrated development process, etc.). Most projects were a blend of the two. -
Photographer, Writer, + DesignerHypsography 2008 - 2011Hypsography was a collection of photographs and writing through which I investigated the nature of patterns and processes. Through the work collected on Hypsography, I explored how to represent phenomena that are fundamentally time-based in forms that are precise and accurate, yet not themselves intrinsically tied to change over time. -
Designer, Builder, + ConsultantHypsometry 2004 - 2011Hypsometry, my design studio, specialized in traditional typography and design patterns applied to the web. Through Hypsometry, I created standards-compliant, accessible, progressive, elegant websites and web applications. Completed projects included web, interface, and graphic design, programming, development, CMS implementation, and best practices consulting.Web design: HTML5 coupled with cross-browser compatible, progressively enhanced CSS3, and unobtrusive Javascript. Designs based on classical design patterns and on the best of typography's deep history. Particular experience with content-rich sites.Web applications: Ruby and Rails experience dating to 2004, including all aspects of web application design and development, with particular experience in front-end design and development.Since 2004, when I founded Hypsometry, I've been involved with a wide array of projects. Three start-up web applications that got off the ground and ran for a while; several others that didn't get past the demo phase. Strategy and design consulting on a number of large projects; medium size projects with medium sized teams; small projects executed completely by me. I wrote a white paper on the possibilities of Web 2.0 for higher education, back when that was exciting and new. And I've designed and built many portfolio and small business sites. -
Founder, Designer, + ProgrammerRejaw Aug 2007 - Feb 2009Rejaw was Infoteria's second attempt to create a strong, articulate community on the web. At the time, we described it as real-time social microblogging.Under the surface, it was a Ruby on Rails application, with other components (architected by Danny Burkes) facilitating the real-time updating. I was responsible for all front-end design and development, from the controllers on up. That work included writing support libraries to facilitate asset management, working with Haml to generate the views, and writing behavioral and user interface Javascript (using Prototype).
