Create, monitor, and modify multiple project schedules and maintain project management documentation. Track Resources for current and planned work at multiple depths... for Publishing Plan long term snapshot, internal/vendor capacity projection, and monitoring for resource balancing. Work closely with senior staff, departmental managers, internal staff, independent contractors, and vendors to ensure the timely movement of scheduled deliverables. Maintain continuous evaluation of workflow to ensure it is manipulated/modified/adjusted to mitigate or avoid potential risk to the project. Monitor and facilitate project communication streams. Close projects with full debrief including process and cost improvement opportunities to apply in future projects. Facilitate creation and maintenance of Curriculum Division best practices documentation. Facilitate Kaizen process when department staff or managers request. Consult with departments external to the Curriculum Divisionto ID points of synergy that could provide mutual cost, time, or other benefits.

This volunteer group of industry professionals reviews and advises on the Graphics Technology programs to help VC launch graduates who are ready to meet the latest industry requirements as they enter the job market. Served as Chair 2007-2011.

FNS Marketing & Special Projects - Design/produce/traffic through final output of campaign collateral for various department initiatives. Maintain item database for on-line menu/calendar system for meals served in OCPS schools. Coordinate resources including equipment, prizes, community partners, and assist with event arrangements. Assist with market research via surveys and field tests and tally data after collection for interpretation.

Hired as a Senior Compositor—Typesetting student & teacher’s edition textbooks using InDesign in conjunction with various other client required specialty software. Also responsible for creation of production ready templates based on customer spec including the use of style sheets and master pages and project management.Became Sourcing Coordinator/Project Manager/Production Lead. Responsibilities Expanded to Include—Offshore vendor vetting, outsource project management, freelance team management, customer service and project management. Assist with pre-press functions and imaging photo manipulation, develop workflows, document processes and work closely with department supervisor and other departmental teams to customize operations to meet our clients individual needs. Responsible for maintaining client schedules and project tracking for billing.

Hired as a Mac Page Make-up Operator—Typesetting student & teacher’s edition textbooks using Quark.Promoted to Senior Mac Page Make-Up Operator—same as above, but also responsible for creation of production ready templates based on customer spec including the use of style sheets and master pages and project leading, as well as handle Braille coding conversions.Promoted to Senior Team Leader, Composition—Responsibilities include the above, plus NIMAS textbook conversions, manage projects with overseas vendors, manage large project teams, including freelance staff. Coordinate workflows with customer service and quality control. Preview new industry technology. Assist with training of new staff and freelance staff. Help customer service with MS Office applications. Lead R & D on process management and workflow options. Produce instructional materials for sales staff to keep them on top of production capabilities and industry terminology and trends. Assist senior management with special projects as needed. Substitute for department supervisor in her absence.

Hired as a Text Graphic Page Make-up Operator—Typesetting for textbooks & packaging using high-end publishing system Xyvision and Mac Platform w/Quark, some tech art creation and illustrative pieces for packaging & marketing.Promoted to Senior Graphics Typesetter/Shift Supervisor—Same as above plus manage workflow of projects on 2nd Shift.Promoted to Design Electronic Support Supervisor—Still production oriented but shifted focus to design—acting as trainer and production consultant to design team learning Mac Platform. Managed font library and purchasing for Mac systems.Promoted to IT Help Desk Supervisor—Researched, recommended and procured software, hardware & upgrades for all Mac & PC workstations & servers, including remote sales staff; managed Tech Support staff, developed user help desk call system and response protocols; coordinated training for each user group…Sales, Design, Editorial, Picture Research, Marketing.Promoted to Text & Graphic Services Manager—Managed department of 20+ staff and freelancers who handled all pre-press phases of textbook production. From editorial manuscript coding and templating to readability level testing for Marketing. From creating production ready templates out of design samples to production of 5-color student & teacher's editions. Participated in inter-departmental project scheduling and managed department budget, hiring and reviews. Was also company spokesperson for visitors & customers wishing to tour the building and learn about textbook creation in the Orlando headquarters.
