Led the team that completed the design and coding for core components in a new microservices architecture, with dual deployments to AWS and internal data centers, that replaced the legacy system for Collector, Athena's main product. Designed and implemented Claim, Athena's core business object. Built proof-of-concept components to reduce Claim rejections through structured data and linguistic analysis of Claim Notes. Completed the design and coding for new custom RPMs to distribute custom-compiled open source packages across the internal web server stacks. Worked with product teams to prioritize fixes to prepare the Athenahealth codebase for the move to the new versions both within the private data centers and AWS microliths. Built tools to identify performance and scaling issues and worked with Platform and DB teams to roll out fixes.Led the implementation of a core messaging bus, allowing event-based programming approaches. Led the adoption of TDD approaches for Visit teams and then reworked planning processes that enforced Agile and TDD practices. Created and led working groups to capture as many diverse perspectives within the company and standardize API design and implementation. Hackathon projects including a predictive claim note service using static data and linguistic analysis of historical successful claims as well as a new user interface that focused on ambulance Claims.

Designed and built a new platform architecture based in Node.js using Express, MongoDB, hosted in AWS, for better performance in the analysis engine, and using Angular and Chart.js for presentation. Designed a new user interface to present data customized to different roles within the hospital. Improved the data ingestion process to mask data for better privacy and support direct data integration with hospitals and allow continuous, automatic imports, allowing scaling to the customer base.
