CUNY/CCNY Advanced Sciences Research CenterCost Control Engineer (June 2012 - January 2014)• Monitor Cost Impact to Scope Changes, track project budget, maintain reporting & forecasting software (Prolog Manager) for Skanska and (Contract Manager) for client DASNY.• Initiate estimating procedures for scope changes.• Negotiate subcontractor change order proposals.• Submit change orders to Client for ApprovalSkanska USA Pre-constructionEstimating Engineer (September 2011 - June 2012)• Assist both preconstruction director and senior estimator in developing preconstruction cost estimates, and review the process of existing projects to be sure they are within the parameters of the established project budget.• Provide detailed unit prices for quantities based on company benchmarking data, as well as use of RS Means and MCA - national averages for labor and material cost data• Conduct analysis of engineering drawings (schematic design, design development, or simply architectural background drawings) and specifications, working essentially from a basis of design, to establish a construction cost baseline• Provide detailed quantity survey (take-off) and develop an estimate, comprised of material unit price and installation/labor costs by trades• Where design is not 100% complete on drawings, conceptually complete design for the purpose of developing a cost estimate baseline - laying out fire protection systems (pipe mains, risers and sprinkler head densities per occupancy group classifications delineated in local fire codes and NFPA standards), and mechanical systems (duct layouts using equal friction loss method, block load calculations and equipment selections based on loads, ventilation or occupational requirements noted in ASHRAE standards and mechanical building codes)• Quantify assumptions made to complete conceptual design. Solicit pricing from vendors or sub-contractors to confirm or adjust estimate for final bidding packages

• Primary duties include survey of project site, analysis of existing building systems, fusing client/end user needs, budget, building codes, and government incentives programs where applicable. • Design HVAC systems, inc. load calculations, selection of equipment, duct & pipe distribution.• Prepare construction documents. • Review of all applicable building codes, ensuring equipment & system compliance. • Review of Shop Drawings to ensure contractor’s compliance with Contract documents.• Correspond with contractors, throughout bidding and implementation of design in the field.• Review NYC Energy Conservation Code Requirements & prepare COMcheck reports.• Continually research changes in codes and impending legislation to develop marking strategy.• Contributed in publication of monthly company newsletter, distributed to current & potential clients.

HVAC design, loads calculations and HAP simulations, energy analysis, cost estimating, and LEED rated design. Projects ranging from Universities, Recreation, and Commercial buildings.

HVAC design, site surveying, and coordination of laboratory equipment with compatability of existing mechanical systems. Assisted clients and facility personnel in developing recommendations, integrating client standards, national building codes, and system and equipment performance specifications, with end user demand. Use of proficiency with AutoCAD and attention to detail to produce congruent construction documentation of intended design, schematics, details, codes, and specifications for laboratories and R&D facilities. Clients include NIEHS, DUMC, and UNCH

Engineering capabilities include field survey, design documents for construction using 2&3D – AutoCAD and Microstation; PFD’s, P&ID’s, distribution plans, specifications. Designed HVAC and mechanical piping systems for pharmaceutical, R&D, laboratories, and office buildings. Clients include GSK, Wyeth and DSM. Coordinate and provide support to all associated disciplines involved in projects to ensure that our client’s requirements and our company standards are met.
