As the Executive Content Manager of Humanities, I helped to create and manage editorial content development of both large-scale global products and products focused unit and skill development for Reading, ELA,Social Studies, Social Emotional Learning, and Technology education.The primary responsibility of the role was creating, leading, and managing a high quality of content development and developing high performing teams of writers and editors. I demonstrated end-to-end experience in managing and producing content, from client presentations, creation of scopes and sequences of learning, producing content for websites (from storybook ideation to video and online learning experiences), and delivery of projects and products according to client specified timelines and budget demands. The work involved the creation of RFPs and client presentations, training of associates, and testing of products.

For AE, I wrote and edited academic content according to editorial guidelines for English Language Arts in grades 6-8. The content was part of multimedia graphic design lessons that were for e-learning and include video and script writing, as well as the writing of assessments and lessons. For AE, I also wrote and edited content for student use, including stories and text for grades K-6.

At nSight, I was part of a multimedia graphic design team, writing script content that was developed into multimedia training videos for various clients. In addition, I also served as an editor for various projects, ensuring content was to client specification. Other roles involved indexing technical books and software testing.

Here, I worked gathering information on project specific areas, staying updated on grammar and project related aspects, writing small drafts, editing and proofreading the drafts, checking for conceptual or grammatical errors in drafts, adhering to deadlines, working on special projects, and demonstrating excellent writing skills. Much of the focus for the special projects included text and passage location for assessments in English, Social Studies, and higher education assessment tasks.

My work here involved many different writing and editing tasks, including the review of documents. In addition, I also worked as curriculum developer and designer. My tasks as a subject matter expert in social studies and language arts involved writing textbook scripted lessons for teacher, students reading comprehension tasks and text, and engagement and enrichment tasks to aid and improve reading comprehension.

In addition to reading and providing editing comments for book development, I also provide synopses and blurbs to be used for marketing purposes, including author interviews, blog posts, and other publishing needs as indicated by the client.

As an education and literacy consultant, I provided many services, for private companies, public schools, homeschool curriculum companies, and charter schools. My work involved literacy coaching, curriculum development and design, and professional development of staff. As a consultant, I was available to work on projects involving increasing literacy and reading scores, and of improving literacy instruction in classrooms through coaching and presentation. As a Subject Matter Expert, I provided experience and knowledge concerning curriculum design and teaching methods in the areas of reading, language arts, and social studies. This news segment showcased the grant I was awarded while working with a local middle school. The grant was for the creation of an audio-library for the special needs students. The grant, the Carl and Mary Kay Wolford Great Classroom Grant, is awarded annually to one school.

As a writing and project consultant, I have worked for various companies and for private individuals, creating pamphlets, web design, order forms, web content, business proposals and presentations, and research-driven proposals. On a larger scale, I have also written entire books, some as a ghostwriter, showcasing the history and work of public and private institutions. This work also included copyediting and providing feedback to other writers and authors on written projects and proposals. My research in these projects has been extensive and this has been proved by the many favorable reviews and inclusion of my work in various public and private libraries. I have worked for local newspapers, national magazines, and have even had my work included in international journals and publications. I have also been selected by national publishers and publicists to provide written reviews for marketing purposes. My work at Rising Academy Network encompassed curriculum development and assessment, as well as professional development for new teachers. The curriculum development included the writing of daily lesson plans encompassing all phases of language arts, including phonics, spelling, grammar, and all areas of reading comprehension. The plans focus on overall language development for speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Lessons for primary language development and secondary language arts have been written and are being used by teachers in 13 schools in both Sierra Leone and Liberia with more than 2500 students. The lessons also include curriculum mapping and assessments to check overall reading comprehension and language growth. As the curriculum developer, I designed lessons for an online tutoring platform that supported multiple learning styles and enabled students to work 1-on-1 with a professional tutor in real-time. I produced curriculum materials that assists students in achieving at higher levels. As part of this project, I wrote curriculum and course materials for instructor-led, web-based and computer-based scripted lessons for improvement in reading comprehension. During the project, I also developed learning objectives , project scripts & storyboards, games, and evaluations/assessments. My skills allowed me to partner effectively to design and develop a comprehensive curriculum that developed the necessary skills for improvement of reading comprehension.

I wrote scripts for online games with the purpose of improving the reading comprehension skills of elementary students. The software design included designing the visual component, as well as giving directives to software code developers to create the storyboards. The tiered system was an interactive education software experience and each lesson was written for a specific skill and purpose, targeted towards remediation of reading subskills and focused on retaining comprehension of key passages, also written by me. The project focused on elementary, grade 3-5.

While a reading specialist at Highland Hills Middle School (the largest middle school in Indiana), I received several awards. This local news segment showcases those awards that included New Albany Floyd County Teacher of the Year, New Albany Floyd County Education Association Rising Professional, and the Excel Award, a multi-state annual award for teaching excellence.

While an adjunct professor with Indiana Wesleyan, I primarily worked with those who were pursuing an education degree. I taught a class called "Teaching Reading" which served as a literacy training for new teachers. My role as a Reading Specialist was vital in helping new recruits understand the federal and state laws that govern this vital component of a child's education.

Louisville, Kentucky Area

My responsibilities included teaching in a classroom setting. I primarily worked with students who needed who were below grade level in reading. While with JCPS, I was also the Department Head for English, served as a representative on the Site Based Decision Making Council, became certified in Scholastic Red reading program, and attended and became certified with the Louisville Reading Project. I also served as the liaison for the summer reading and writing programs held at our school to provide remedial reading assistance for students below grade level.

As the Literacy Coach and Reading Specialist within the school, my job had a two-fold purpose: first, to create lessons that enhanced the classroom work of new and seasoned teachers; secondly, I was responsible for improving the reading and writing state assessment scores of the school. While in this role, I also wrote several grants that were used to promote the literacy skills of our most struggling students and worked in tandem with the State Literacy Coach for the improvement of professional staff development.
