Do you know what Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, and Susan B Anthony have in common? They were all middle children with strong leadership qualities and a desire to make a change in the lives of others.Growing up as a middle child, I was used to not getting my own way, so I became a negotiator. I was able to see all sides of a situation, so I grew empathetic and judged reactions well. I was willing to compromise, so I argued successfully and proposed changes. I had to stand out from others, so I thought outside of the box, took measured risks, and was open to new experiences. I quickly became a justice seeker and self-advocate who focused on fairness in the family and was well attuned to the needs of others. All of these skills continue to grow as I navigate through my personal and professional journey.I am motivated by social causes and working with underserved communities. Throughout my life I have felt the call to take action in serving others. It all started when I was elected class president in the first grade, where I worked with the other class presidents and our parents to raise funds for new garbage cans and events to improve our elementary school. Growing up in the NY Tri-state area, I was exposed to a diverse environment where I learned about different cultures, traditions, and religions, and I wanted to continue expanding my knowledge and desire to help my community, reason why I pursued a degree in the social sciences. After graduating college, I helped create an English class for Spanish-speaking parents in a high school not only to improve their English speaking skills, but also help them navigate the intricacies of their children’s education in the U.S. As an immigrant myself, I have first-hand experience and a demonstrated commitment to helping the immigrant community become better informed, represented, and heard. Building my career in immigration law has given me purpose and has allowed me to meet valuable people who also want to build a better inclusive environment for others.Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends; seeking out new places and adventures; watching movies and reading books; practicing yoga and parenting a Goldendoodle.Nowadays we, middleborns, are becoming an endangered species, so let's connect!CliftonStrenghts: Empathy, Achiever, Discipline, Connectedness, Developer.
