Programming and data analysis are hobbies I have really enjoyed teaching myself for the past decade. I enjoy analyzing a problem, breaking it down into its sub-problems, creating solutions and putting it all together into a working product. I find it rewarding and fun to create a tool that can be used over and over by others (or myself) to meet a need or solve a problem. Wanting to improve on my limited knowledge, and transition careers, I decided to enroll in Oregon State University's Post-Baccalaureate Computer Science program. There, I have had the opportunity to dive more deeply into a number of topics including networking, analysis of algorithms, data structures, relational databases, SQL, web development, object-oriented programming, computer architecture and software engineering. I've had a lot of fun learning computer science principles and applying them to actual projects. I would like to continue that fun in a software engineering role. As a Physical Therapist, I have a strong background in fitness, wellness and healthcare. I would like to combine that experience and knowledge with my computer science education to work on hardware, networking, or data analysis projects in the healthcare, fitness, wearable or health education space.
