I completed my post-doctoral hours for licensure at Integrative Health Consultants. I provided counseling services including individual, biofeedback therapy, and psychological assessment for the greater Grand Rapids area.

I trained 20+ staff members of Michigan State University Counseling and Psychiatric Services on providing Heart Rate Variability biofeedback to students. I provided biofeedback services to several ongoing therapy clients, and assisted with reducing the CAPS wait list by offering 2-3 biofeedback trainings to interested individuals on the wait list and reassessing their desire to continue with ongoing talk therapy.

I provided individual and group psychotherapy/counseling for students at Michigan State University, as well as assessment services for MSU students. I created the beginnings of a biofeedback program to provide biofeedback-informed counseling for a variety of concerns, including but not limited to generalized anxiety, sport and performance anxiety, chronic pain, migraines, and trauma. I gained experience in psychological testing and evaluation services for students. Additionally, I provided outreach services for the university and community to inform about services offered on campus, as well as de-stigmatizing attending counseling services.

In this advanced assessment experience, I administered additional tests for the Center's psychologists. I also scored these assessments using both hand-score and computerized-scoring methods, and I provided interpretation of the tests for the psychologists' use. Additionally, my duties included keeping inventory of protocols up to date, managing the testing waitlist, and working with insurance companies to determine testing benefits, copayments, and preauthorization needs.

I provided individual and group psychotherapy/counseling for adults and older adults. I also provided biofeedback-informed counseling for a variety of concerns, including but not limited to generalized anxiety, sport and performance anxiety, chronic pain, migraines, and trauma. I gained experience in psychological testing and evaluation services for clients across the lifespan. Additionally, I helped teach aspects of the Center's Assessment Seminar, including the hypothesis testing method, case conceptualizations, and theoretical orientation creation.

I organized the Iowa State University Identity Development Laboratory (IDL) via interviewing potential undergraduate research assistants, creating a schedule for IDL hours, and facilitating relevant discussions during IDL meetings. I also trained the undergraduate research assistants in a variety of protocols for experiments run through the IDL. My area of research was focused on how stereotypes are activated based on different intersections of identity (e.g., sex, race/ethnicity) and athletic status.

As part of this position, my experience can be summarized in a few categories. The main duties shared over the years included leading group biofeedback orientations and outreaches for the Iowa State University (ISU) community, providing additional services to individuals who need more individualized support using biofeedback procedures, and performing administrative support for the front desk staff at the ISU Student Counseling Service (SCS).My position as the Outreach Coordinator (August 2014 - May 2016) had additional expectations. I was the first contact ISU community members had to coordinating outreaches. Through my time as the coordinator, I increased the visibility of the ISU Biofeedback Center by reaching out to various groups on campus. This culminated in annual outreach experiences with several campus-run conferences, including Eating Disorders Awareness Week and First-Year Institute. I was also the Marketing Coordinator from August 2015 to May 2016. I was expected to produce biofeedback brochures, bookmarks, and business cards, as well as maintain the accuracy of information on the Center's webpage. My Technology Coordinator position (August 2014 - August 2015) had duties specific to maintenance and support of hardware and software concerns. I was responsible for contacting out biofeedback sensor supplier with questions regarding faulty sensors, consultation for sensor refurbishment, and ordering new sensors. I coordinated computer updates and researched new software that may be used in the Center. Additionally, I created a biofeedback application list for client, staff, and student use as a resource for learning about biofeedback, maintaining skills learned through orientations, and introductions to biofeedback as a mindfulness practice.

As part of this position, I taught 7 total discussion sections for Iowa State University's (ISU) 400-level Psychological Measurement course. I modified lecture slides to provide a more interactive experience for my discussion sections, created engaging methods for studying through Jeopardy-based reviews, and provided real-life examples of statistics that students could grasp. Part of my duties also included grading quizzes, administering tests, and providing office hours for students.
