Climate change is the single largest challenge facing our generation today. The global response to climate change is focused along three themes: the energy transition, the materials transition and water.Energy Transition: The way we produce and consume energy is undergoing a fundamental shift. In the future we will produce more energy from renewable sources like wind, solar, biomass and nuclear. Natural gas will continue to be part of the fuel mix for some time to come. On the consumption side, we will electrify all sectors of the economy - namely transportation, industrial, commercial and residential. And, to bridge this gap, we will deploy storage in the form of batteries, H2, gravity storage systems and we will need micro-grid solutions to ease the rising burden on our ailing grid infrastructure.Material Transition: Since the industrial revolution, we have lived in an extractive economy where we take resources out of the ground, make products out of them, consume them and then dump them in trash. This is unsustainable and is changing. We will recycle and reuse more and more of our resources. And, we will grow the materials we need - bio-plastics, bio-rubber, bio-fabrics etc.Water: is a limited resource that is already under a lot of stress. We need water for human and animal consumption, for agriculture to sustain us and for industrial use to support our needs. Fresh water is already a crisis and as much as 2/3rds of the worls population is already in a water stressed region. Climate change has changed the water cycle, started the aridification of our lands and dropped the water table to dangerous levels. Drier land can't soak up water making it difficult to replinish fresh water supplies and causing flash floods.Coupled with all of this is the increased frequency and strength of disastrous climate events such as hurricanes, widlfires etc.At GreenSwans, it is our mission to do everything we can to be part of the solution to the climate crisis. Our vision is to utilize nascent technologies and innovations to drive the energy transition, the resources transition and ease the water crisis.
