Profile bio

About Cole Cioran

I grew up in a cabin in the woods without running water or electricity. That might seem like an unlikely start for a career in IT and as the leader of ITRG's research and advisory services for the Canadian Public Sector. But we all had to start from somewhere. For me, the journey began in 1980 when we got the first home computer in the county. I wrote:10 PRINT HELLO WORLD!RUNHELLO WORLD!And I was hooked. I knew I wanted to build great applications that would delight the users. I did that over and over. Along the way, I also discovered that it takes great teams to deliver great applications. Technology only solves problems when people, processes, and organizations change as well. This helped me go from writing software to architecting exceptional products and services powered by technology. It has allowed me to transform the performance of every team I have led. Beyond teams, I have helped tens of thousands of people in some of the largest private and public sector organizations in the world reinvent how they deliver digital, artificial intelligence, and technology with practical and actionable research and advice. The Canadian Public Sector Executive Services team and I look forward to helping you as well!

Listed skills include Business Analysis, Integration, Requirements Analysis, Systems Analysis, and 46 others.

Jan 1994 - Aug 1997

Research Associate

Hamilton, On

Being a research associate at McMaster's Tandem Accelerator Lab called for a little of everything. One day I would be analyzing data looking for patterns of decay in nuclei spinning so rapidly they were deformed to two or three times their normal size. Another might find me writing code in Fortran and C to do the same. The next would find me working a night shift at the accelerator at Chalk River waiting for the machine to go ping. In between I contributed to scholarly articles on the subject, and proof-read the theses of graduate students in the department. The next might well take me back to the beginning again.
