Recruited to build and manage a coherent Information Technology Infrastructure geared for the delivery of effective Information Technology services to the newly formed university from three previously disparate institutions spanning four campuses scattered in the Eastern Cape Province. Major Accomplishments: • Established an ICT Strategic Plan and an Enterprise Architecture for the University that underpins the University Institutional strategic plan. • Ensured efficient student registration process by the establishment of an effective Broadband WAN for all campuses. This enabled a much better performance of the University ERP system which reduced the time taken for students to enrol at the university. • Improved the accessibility, management and security of data across the university by implementing a consolidated Storage Area Network and centralized Identity Management System. • Better collaboration and productivity along with reduced travel time and cost, through the provision of IP Based Video Teleconferencing and Streaming facilities. • Greater operation efficiency of the IT Department by the restructuring of the disjointed staff and units and the implementation of a centralized Online Help Desk that aligned with the ITIL framework.

• Between 2007 and 2008; Responsible for the Management of the Government IT Infrastructure which included the Government Data Network, Government Data Centres and the Internet Services. • Between 2002 and 2007; Responsible for the management of the Government Data Network and Internet Services. • Between 2000 and 2002; Responsible for the Government Data Network (GDN). Major Accomplishments:• Created a Government Data Network Architecture and Standards to ensure proper upgrading of the Government Data Network.• Resolved the key Government Data Centres Redundancy, Network Performance and Security Issues by designing and managing the implementation of the then state of the art Gigabit Layer-3 Ethernet Campus LAN within the Government Enclave. • Improved network accessibility throughout the country by establishing a WAN built around ATM in the core and Frame Relay for the Access links underpinned by Telco E3, E1, and Sub-E1 Leased lines. • Established Wireless Access Links for key buildings using redundant 100Mbps Free Space Laser for the strategic Botswana Television Building and 11Mbps DSSS Radios for other buildings. • Improved Internet Performance for the entire Government by establishing a High-Speed Internet via Satellite via Telenor, Norway. • Established Low-cost High-Speed Internet Access for remote schools using the spare bandwidth of the Botswana Television leased Satellite Transponder using a concept called asymmetric Satellite communication.• Built a secure VPN that vastly improved collaboration between the overseas foreign missions and the Government. • Recruited and mentored staff so as to provide effective IT support and services. Oversaw an increase in staff from three people to over twenty.
