My goal is to help my clients eliminate the risk of accidental copyright infringement, to identify third-party content that may freely be used without obtaining permission, and to acquire permission to use copyright-protected content for use in their own creative works.The practical experience of researching copyright issues for hundreds of clients and clearing the rights to use thousands of individual items has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of copyright issues and the copyright clearance process. It enables me to address the unique needs of each client, quickly identify their potential copyright compliance issues and risks, submit exacting requests to copyright owners and administrators, negotiate license fees, assess agreement terms and conditions, and manage complex projects.My prior experiences such as an educator, project leader, university administrator, independent consultant, author, publisher, and president of an independent publishing trade association have enhanced my ability to manage concurrent projects to achieve client goals, my sensitivity to budgets and deadlines, and my interpersonal communications skills.I co-authored and independently published the award-winning Copyright Clearance for Creatives, a book to help content creators navigate the complexities of US copyright laws.
