Introduce new products to the BAW process line, investigate yield issues via correlation studies and data analysis using a variety of analysis tools. Run process splits to improve yield/performance and validate yield degradation theories.
Investigate yield degradation issues in HBT process line, work with integration and process engineering to determine root cause. Perform correlation studies to determine yield loss mechanisms and design DOEs to validate yield loss models.
Sending site process transfer expert for transferring two processes from National's Arlington Fab to National's Maine Facility from initial discussion through process qualification and finally product qualification.Generated sending site process difference analysis comparing sending and receiving site tools and process with FMEA type document. This tool was used to identify risk and develop mitigation plans, which included designed experiments and staging of material at key operations. Once the new flow was available, physical and electrical measurements were taken to match against 'golden' wafers from the sending fab site. Completed physical and electrical matching analysis to determine if further process tuning experiments are required. Completed qualification lots and ran through reliability testing, ELFR, Op life, Autoclave, Tri-temp, ESD, Latchup, etc to validate the process. Completed data analysis on product wafer sort yield and parametric analysis. Released product to production based on yield, parametric analysis and reliability results.Established good working relationship with engineers at the receiving site, completed knowledge transfer to new process owners by training them on the new process architecture.
Fab site leader for development of and transition to manufacturing a complex BiCMOS process as well as other technologies.Managed and directed high level Integration Engineers as well as non-exempt support staff on multiple engineering projects. Maintained weekly one-on-one with direct reports to manage projects, enhance employee development, and provide mentoring. Managed and drove project deliverable completion by working cross functionally with other engineering groups to complete projects on schedule. Consistently demonstrated strong project management skills by driving results to meet and/or exceed project goals. Prepared and delivered technical presentations on new technology / processes rolled out in our facility. Documented complex procedures and process to be transferred to other facilities. Strong communications skills across a wide spectrum of arenas: one-on-one mentoring, project status meetings, operator training both to small and large audiences as well as technical training to engineering groups. Worked with unit process development engineers, failure analysis lab, yield group and test engineering to find and resolve process and architecture issues on complex technologies.
Responsible for transferring and qualifying two processes from National’s UK Fab to the Arlington Fab. Both processes extremely challenging due to the analog nature of the technology and the characterization and qualification requirements. The first process was adding a second metal layer to an already transferred process along with some implant dose changes. The second transfer was a complete transfer, which required interaction with process, product, test and reliability engineers to qualify the process on schedule. I personally ordered and set up the bench testing apparatus to complete bench characterization testing on schedule when it could not be completed offsite within the allotted timeframe. The process was qualified to match datasheet performance.
Unit process engineer for transferring Interconnect/ Backend processes from the Analog development Fab in Santa Clara to Arlington. Transferred Metal and Dielectric process recipes on Varian and Applied tools to the Arlington site, set up backend runcard operations , SPC and validated physical measurement. Wrote specs and trained operators, process was successfully transferred on schedule.
Fab 2 Metallization process engineer - Sustained Fab 2 Interconnect area. In addition installed first metal cluster tool process and redeveloped process for manufacturing efficiency.Led the effort to redevelop high temperature Aluminum interconnect process from research tool configuration to configuration suitable for large scale manufacturing operations. This involved redesigning the process temperatures and the wafer path through the tool this required the addition of new and modified hardware to improve throughput from 11WPH to 22WPH. The process was redeveloped using a cross function team approach across three manufacturing sites.
Startup team member for the interconnect area of Fab 2 at National's Arlington facility.Transferred process technology for the interconnect area from National's Santa Clara FRC fab to Arlington's Fab 2. Trained in Santa Clara, transferred the process recipes and specifications to Arlington, performed source inspection of the process tools. Qualified the tools, set up SPC, and wrote specifications. Trained operators on how to run the tools and the process. Tool set included Varian, Applied Materials, AG Associates, Wet Chemical processes, and metrology
Sustaining engineering for general issues in Implant and Interconnect areas at National’s Fab 1 on night and day shifts.Responsible for modifying process recipes, disposition of non conforming materials, general trouble shooting of process problems and resolving process issues. Interacted with manufacturing, maintenance and repair personnel to maintain production quality.
General equipment upkeep.
