Hafa Adai and Hello! My name is Christian San Nicolas, I am Senior studying Business Administration at the University of Guam. I have great communication skills and able to think on my feet for fast problem solving. Currently I am the Program Coordinator for the Micronesia Climate Change Alliance, a local non-profit organization dedicated to building community-based solutions for the climate crisis. In addition, I am a fellow with the Power Shift Network, a BIPOC Youth-led organization based out of Washington DC, whose mission is to uplift native and indigenous voices within my region of Micronesia. I have years of experience leading teams, collaborating with professionals, and influencing the strategic direction of various community projects. Currently, I am pursuing a career in Human Resources. My goal is it graduate with my bachelor’s in business administration and enter the airlines industry working as a Human Resource Representative for United Airlines. I plan to achieve this goal by taking on key roles and opportunities available to me. As a member of the local chapter of SHRM, Society for Human Resource Management, I plan to develop relationships and skills in advancing human resource practices and by maximizing human potential to build a world in which all can prosper. Program CoordinatorMicronesia Climate Change Alliance Nov 2019 - PresentBarrigada, Guam, GuamMicronesia Climate Change Alliance (MCCA) is a grassroots network of individuals and organizations dedicated to creating community-centered solutions to climate change.Although we are a small team, we have an ambitious agenda to improve the sustainability of our island home by focusing on a wide spectrum of issues such as mitigating and adapting to climate change, transitioning to locally- produced renewable energy sources, promoting food sovereignty, tackling the consumption and waste crisis and advocating for an equitable, just society throughout Micronesia.In January 2021, I was promoted from Intern to their Program Coordinator. The essential job function for this position is to ensure all requirement from grants/projects are fulfilled. We are a small organization of only three personnel with around 20+ 1099-Independent contractors annually. MCCA is a small but mighty organization as we handle upwards of $150,000 different grants to facilitate multiple community projects for your island.Projects/Duties- Precious Plastics: Co-created Guam’s Precious Plastics program from the ground up. Precious Plastic is a combination of people, machines, networks and knowledge to create an alternative global recycling system.
