In my latest full-time position, I was managing a lab, leading a group of scientists in the development of sensors of food quality.At US Genomics, I contributed to the development of the sample preparation methodology for a single diagnostic test that could be applied to the detection of a wide range of infectious organisms, using their proprietary technology for genome mapping.The focus of my years in academic research has been on proteomics, the study of signal transduction alterations associated with disease, and biomarkers, enzymology, enzyme kinetics and molecular biology. I particularly enjoyed my time as postdoc at MIT, when I used a systems biology approach to characterize the signaling networks in breast cancer cells. Since then, I have become passionate about the concept of personalized medicine.
