During this period I was responsible for supervising and monitoring the installation of numerous earthworks structures for residential applications. This was a great position for me as it allowed me to showcase the power and versatility of the Geological Engineering Program from the University of Waterloo. During this period I was shared between both the Geology and Geotechnical Engineering Departments at the Aurora Mine. As a result of this opportunity, I accumulated an array of experience in orebody delineation and 3D modelling from borehole logs, identification of geomechanical units of weakness from geology interpretation, generation of drilling forecast surfaces, modelling of tailings dam slope stability, evaluation of tailings dams and dykes for regulatory reporting requirements, and participation in overburden drilling identification and investigation.

The primary responsibilities associated with this role included providing daily survey data for real time volume estimations and earth structure completion rates. Our team provided complete and accurate data for a number of different applications including, but not limited to: tailings asbuilts, earthworks asbuilts, shovel pit asbuilts, coke beach asbuilts, tailings pipe alignment and layout, earthworks layout, and shovel pit layout surveys. Furthermore, I was responsible for several regulatory water level surveys and an evaluation of Syncrude's current GPS Static Survey Infrastructure.
