Architecting the cloud behind a city-scale, always-connected, real-time internet of things platform.In my second nine months at Sensity, I developed a densely packed, highly scalable, polymorphic sample data storage architecture, and an incremental, continuously updating sensor analytics platform.I then proceeded to design, architected, and implemented the NetSense 2 cloud platform as a set of loosely coupled microservices from scratch to alpha deployment in only 90 days. This rapid development included writing a custom, ultra low overhwad websocket implementation in Scala/spray; the websocket stack passes the industry standard autobahn test suite in its entirety.The 2.0 platform features a lightweight, graph traversing, multiple dispatch event bus architecture used to efficiently monitor and control massive numbers of devices within tight latency constraints, to coordinate distributed microservices, to push sensor and complex analytics events to API consumers, and more. The platform hosts multiple device types, and comprehends multiple distinct device protocols. Device services abstract over protocol variations through the use of the event and command bus aystems.

In my first nine months at Sensity, I developed:- Native Scala/Akka MongoDB driver – 100% asynchronous and completely non-blocking- Variant algebraic data type with standalone JSON/JSLN/BSON implementations- Variant diff/patch mechanism- Variant cache with differential coherency- Policy based access control system with set theoretic permissions model- Type safe, access controlled meta object model- Parser/compiler/optimizer for custom query language- Query DSL with combinators to support easy query rewriting- Queryable repository model with orthogonal DB/REST/Test implementations- Google Datasource compatible REST API implementation- Chunked query streaming to handle massive queries in constant memory space- Real-time query monitoring to push changes to web clients as they occurI also designed and implemented a presence-triggered light compositing and animation engine.

Implemented an extensive, lightweight, high performance foundation library in Scala using state-of-the-art data structures and algorithms, with a relentless focus on design and simplicity. I intend to decimate the size and complexity of an end-to-end software stack, while increasing its performance, flexibility, and ease of use.
