This discipline is critical to understanding what’s going on quantitively in the manufacturing process.The qualitative side is a different conversation that takes into account the human and less tangible factors.Both are essential to understanding the dynamics underlying performance and the keys to achieving flow. Flow is hard to describe, but you know when you’re in it, or when you’re not.I’m passionate about getting there and staying in “flow” and implementing Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing across the value chain is how I do it.Here are some examples: Led turnaround of plant operations increasing on-time delivery from 84% to 99.5%, improving quality through Lean initiatives, Total Quality Management (TQM), standard work and working with external partners. Reduced external defects by 71%/$13K per month within the first 4 months. Reduced additional 64%/$3.5K per month during the next 9 months.Held Kaizens to improve productivity 58% in paint, 31% at Press, 157% in pre-inspection, 60% at UV Topcoat line which removed bottleneck and reduced labor dollars per piece by $2.00/40%, and in hand sanding, held 2 Kaizens resulting in an initial 71% increase in productivity and then an additional 216% increase.Developed lower cost finish for customers resulting in winning new customer program worth $465K per year, and a university residence project worth $93K.Outsourced kitting process by implementing a Just in Time program in which distributor builds mixed color Medium Density Fiberboard with melamine units sequenced to batches by router. Reduced Medium Density Fiberboard inventory by 57%, improved safety, and reduced labor by $25K a year.Facilitated / Led 76 Kaizens. Kaizens included Sales and Marketing Strategy, cell creation, new products, quality improvements, productivity improvements, and 5S visual management.
