The Syracuse Summer Studio, 'Making Room for the Water: Architectural Solutions,' emphasizes rethinking urban planning and building design to address the climate crisis by making room for water, protecting against flood risks, reducing the impacts of extreme heat, minimizing our energy and material footprint, and enhancing community equity and resilience.• Crafted and delivered lectures on climate risks, climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, nature-based solutions, and QGIS with colleagues at ONE.• Led design critiques and feedback sessions with colleagues.• Mentored students in developing their research proposals by guiding them through identifying research questions, gathering data, and developing architecture and landscape designs.• Coordinated collaborative workshops with the design studio at the University of Seoul.

Project: “Cities and Nature: Planning for the Future”Client: UN-HABITAT Global Solutions Division (GSD) Programme Development Branch (PDB)The project 'Cities and Nature: Planning for the Future' culminated in a white paper for the CBD COP15. The white paper highlights the urgent need for cities, especially those in biodiversity hotspots, to adopt more sustainable and proactive urban planning practices.• Led the development of a data-driven, user-friendly, and replicable tool to map potential urbanization-biodiversity-climate risk conflict zones for data-scarce, least-developed countries using remote sensing data and open datasets• Synthesized around 20 global open datasets, visualized them as urbanization-biodiversity-climate risk conflict zones, and developed and maintained an internal dataset for future data searching, collection, and visualization.• Supported the conception of adaptation and mitigation strategies to equip city decision-makers with the tools needed to make informed decisions about where and how to develop with minimal impact on nature and people.• Authored narratives that enhances understanding of the intersections between climate risk, biodiversity loss, and urbanization in the three pilot cities - Honiara, Solomon Islands, Lilongwe, Malawi; and Morondava, Madagascar
