Supervision of a team of Civil Rights Officers who investigate allegations of discrimination in a designated housing unit. Review witness interviews, facilitate settlements, draft agreements, testify at hearings, and edit written findings in housing discrimination cases. Formerly worked on employment and public accommodation cases prior to the creation of the housing unit. Guided by the Federal Government Titles VII and VIII as well as State Government Title 20 and the Commission's Rules of Procedure.

Researched, wrote and edited legal articles for antitrust subscription-based publication. Also provided analysis in a deadline-driven environment. Covered congressional hearings. Reviewed and analyzed information from complaints, economic studies, federal agency reports, legislation and press releases. Covered antitrust, consumer protection and trade regulation issues under little or no supervision. These subjects often overlapped with other issues including privacy, data security and electronic commerce.

Reviewed charging documents issued by the Baltimore City Police Department. Conducted hearings to: advise defendants of pending charges; suggest pre-trial preparations; and determine pre-trial bail status—as needed. Collected bail. Issued arrest warrants and criminal summonses. This position required a high level of patience, discretion, and responsibility. It involved a great deal of interaction with the public during a very stressful time in their lives; whether they were under arrest and being processed or responding to the arrest of a friend or family member. I also assisted victims in filing complaints against alleged criminals when the police were unable to conduct an investigation or file charges.

Clerked for the Honorable Andre M. Davis; currently a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Maintained his hearing calendar, wrote opinion drafts, researched topics related to civil, criminal, and domestic court dockets. Made sure courtroom ran smoothly and efficiently. Conducted several pre-trial conferences and negotiated settlements in the Judge’s absence.NOTE: This was a one-year appointment.
