I have always been driven by the opportunity to empower others. I believe in the potential of people, the ability to change, and the power of dedicating oneself to learning something new. This drive initially led me to a career in teaching. I taught elementary school for five years, working tirelessly to empower students and my fellow educators. While I loved teaching, I found the environment to be restrictive and slow to adopt new ideas. I left education and immersed myself in the world of tech by attending an eight week coding intensive at Tech Talent South. I learned to challenge my desire to not execute until I’ve reached perfection by adopting the “Fail Faster” developer mentality. After completing my studies in Ruby on Rails at Tech Talent South I began working with a local startup, PeachDish. I then received the opportunity to work in tech support at ChildPlus Software. The experience of learning a new software and working with clients to integrate the software into their daily workflow has sharpened my problem solving skills, while allowing me to empower others with the knowledge I have gained. With the large amount of security breaches around the world and in my backyard, I developed an interest in cyber security. This interest led me to a role working as Systems Administrator at Cornerstone Bank, where I have the opportunity to develop standard operating procedures and best practices that secure the bank and maintain an efficient workplace.
