She impressed us all with her willingness to engage with the team and to learn and contribute to new topics. Two pieces of work stand out. The first was around security of data at rest on untrusted systems. The problem was how to process data on the system without exposing any of the data as plain text. Cecelia worked closely with Intel and other experts as part of a working party investigating secure key stores. She proved herself very adept at learning new cryptographic skills and working across two large organisations. She successfully prototyped a working key store and was part of the team that won an Engineering Innovation award for this work. The second piece of work involved machine learning where, again, she proved herself very proficient at learning and applying new skills. By the time she finished her year with us, she had become a fully-fledged and liked member of the team and able to engage in technical discussions with experts in the field. She has a quiet determination to get work done and was undaunted by the technical challenges we gave her. She has the makings of a great computer scientist."
