After developing for twenty years a successful private practice with emphasis on restorative and perio-prosthetic treatment of referred patients combined with tenured faculty and several high-level administrative positions at the School of Dentistry, Universidad de Antioquia (Medellín, Colombia), Dr. Echeverri moved to the United States in 2003 and became Assistant Clinical Professor at Temple University School of Dentistry, Department of Dental Public Health Sciences. He was a consultant for the Clinical Management System implemented for Temple University School of Dentistry. He also developed several web sites, promotional material, and computer applications for the School.In Colombia, he led the special taskforce to evaluate and develop an innovative curricular proposal for School of Dentistry, Universidad de Antioquia. Later, he was appointed as curriculum consultant for that School for six years. He was also a consultant for designing and testing dental software for small dental offices and for dental schools.He became Director of Information Technology for The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry (TUKSoD) in 2007, where he was responsible for the implementation of Clinical Management System that is has been using ever since, and after that, for its updates, as well as the modernization of instructional resources for the School and in general, the IT infrastructure for the School.When TUKSoD embarked on its ambitious clinical renovation project, Dr. Echeverri oversaw the selection, configuration and deployment of workstations for clinics and supporting areas at TUKSoD, with more than 600 networked workstations and approximately 1200 active users of the comprehensive Clinical Management System used by the School. Since then, he directed the program to update them, and when the school decided to migrate to a virtual environment for its clinics and to facilitate secure remote access to the clinical management system, he participated actively on the selection and design of the virtualization system currently in place, along with access to digital 2D and 3D diagnostic images, electronic prescriptions, CAD/CAM restorative capabilities, electronic data exchange (EDI) for digital transactions with health insurance companies, and other online services.Dr. Echeverri has offered multiple lectures on restorative dentistry, dental materials, and curricular development, as well as application of information technology to dental education and clinical practice.
