The heterogeneous distribution of different materials potentially recognizable in the structural solid needs a… Show more PhD Thesis: "Modellazione di strutture bidimensionali multistrato con legame costitutivo nonlineare" (in italian).The formulation of numerical models, useful to simulate the nonlinear behaviour of structural elements described by multilayer bi-dimensional continua, subjected to multidirectional high loadings, like seismic forces, is not a completely explored research topic. The heterogeneous distribution of different materials potentially recognizable in the structural solid needs a refinement description along the thickness, distinctly assigning the mechanics characteristics to different layers. The present thesis proposes a multilayer bi-dimensional continuum model, characterized by materials described by different nonlinear constitutive laws, able to represent the in-plane and out-of-plane static behaviour. The continuum is then discretized by means the finite element method. The model kinematic hypothesis allows to indipendently modulate the used accuracy level in the displacement distributions with respect to the layer and to the bi-dimensional domain; long the thickness imposing a displacement profile described by a variable degree polynomial, in the bi-dimensional domain in plane decreasing the element size or selecting the most suitable finite element. A numerical algorithm which allows to describe the three-dimensional material nonlinearity, is considered. Numerical results illustrates the performance of the proposed model as implemented in dedicated code. Show less
