From a small town in the country of Argentina, young Cecilia Fernández, barely one-year-of-age, was asking her mom for something to draw with. Since that early stage in life, art has been her means of expression, her escape, safety and, with it, her freedom. She graduated as a Graphic Designer at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1999. Two years later she escapes the city making the island of Maui, Hawai‘i, her home. Her lifetime connection to nature and passion for color have only grown while living in this beautiful place for over a decade and feeding off the richness of the Hawaiian Culture and colorful surroundings. While on Maui she kept sharpening her design skills doing freelance work, until acquiring the position of Art Director & Senior Graphic Designer in 2004 at Maui no ka ‘oi Magazine where she was able to splash her creativity in Photography, Graphic Design, Art, Interior Design and Styling, putting together a beautiful and classy Award-winning publication. Among other awards received were “Best Series of Photographs” at the Pa‘i Awards (State of Hawai‘i) with a spread design on Maui’s Night Sky, “Best Overall Photograph” printed and featured at the Adobe Photoshop Keynote Opening event in Orlando, Miami, in 2011. In the art world, a few months earlier, her painting “Hau Hele ‘Ula” gets a special award in a conservation art exhibit at Viewpoints Fine Art Gallery on Maui called Malama Wao ‘Akua, initiating her professional career in this area as well. Opening her eyes to the world, with her company BluePrintPhotography operating internationally, she can keep exploring new cultures, new sites and growing her talent and passion for art, capturing with her eye the flavors of life; staying inspired photographing and painting those special moments that can mirror her soul ♥
