Enjoying life. Between doing contract Quality projects, I have also been doing volunteer work for the AT&T Telephone Pioneers of America leading a Kansas portion of a nationwide project refurbishing digital Talking Books for the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Participating in the National Library Service "Reading and Technology Group" in exploring how the NLS can and should serve the needs of the Blind and physically handicapped in the future. Also leading the Pioneer CHARM (Children Helped and Rehabilitation Motivated) project in which items are made and distributed free of charge to teachers and school occupational/physical therapist to be used in their work with the handicapped children. And heading the Reading is FUNDamental project in which books are distributed to Title 1 children so that they may have a book of their own (many of these children have never owned a book). And on the Pioneer organizational administration, handling the duties of being 2nd Vice President for the Kansas Pioneers Chapter #62. And writing the Kansas chapter Pioneer Newsletter, and doing other Pioneer activities.Heading the Ushers organization at church and working with HopeBuilders, which make ramps, free of charge, for individuals needing better access/egress to and from their homes. And finally meeting new Pioneer friends.Helping my wife raise two of our grandchildren, now ages 18 and 20, and both in junior college. We have had them for 10 years.Again, enjoying all the needs and maintenance of owing a home after living in an apartment for almost 14 years.

Doing site surveys for clients working for AT&T. These surveys involved documentation of what equipment was installed and where it was located. Other surveys involved potential electrical work in providing reserve power.Auditing both detailed engineering specs and installation quality for a client's work in AT&T's central offices. Installation and Engineering documentation deveopment and updating. Engineering package development for usage in clients RFQs. And Financial reviews of engineering work to ensure that all was billed correctly.

Worked as a part time installation and engineering quality auditor for InterBay Technologies in the Kansas and western Missouri areas. Saw more AT&T central offices. InterBay was doing work for AT&T in their central offices and in a few customer prem locations. Finally got a chance to drive much of central Kansas, going from job site to job site.

Directed overall ISO 9001 and TL 9000 certification and compliance program for a $60M national service organization providing engineering, installation, project management services to telecom service providers. Was the TL 9000 lead and the QuEST Forum representative for EMBARQ Logistics, a $750M distributor of telecommunications equipment provider. Performed internal audits, trained internal TL 9000 auditors and lead auditors. Originated and directed the Supplier Evaluation program which gathered and analyzed data on contractor performance. Trained employees and suppliers regarding customer requirements. Also performed document preparation and editing, and document control coordination for the entire organization. Lead the organization’s safety program, perform facility safety audits, and corrective action follow-up.

Maintained Baldrige Quality Management System, Lead pursuit of and maintained ISO 9001 and TL 9000 certification, performed internal audits, trained internal TL 9000 auditors and lead auditors, document preparation and editing, document control coordination for the entire organization, and limited installer training. Perform facility safety audits, corrective action follow-up, and lead the safety program.

Organized a group of quality managers from competing companies to improve everyone's quality. Performed contract administration, provided training, and managed external quality auditors. Set company quality and fire stoppage standards. Established, documented and maintained installation standards, detailed engineering standards and testing requirements.

Lead a team performing power plant reviews over 4 states and a team performing quality verifications on central office equipment installations in Oklahoma, Set company fire stoppage standards and requirements.

Member of the first Air National Guard Engineering Cell in the nation. I covered all aspects of radar; my career fields were in Aircraft Control and Warning, and Approach and Landing System Radar. Worked with SouthCom Engineering in east Oklahoma City. Prior I was a member of the radar unit. In that unit we assembled and disassembled tower radoms, radar sets, and maintained our own control and warning radar set.
