Moved to Spain for year working as property salesperson with Bona Fide Costa S.L. in La Cala, Spanish Real Estate company negotiation, marketing and selling property in the Costa del Sol. Finding new clients and handling their sale and advertising properties.Duties included representing clients to find the best property, at the best price, which meets the client’s needs, and to navigate the transaction through from viewing to purchase and moving into the new property.Also representing sellers in marketing the client’s property in an attempt to find a qualified buyer and obtain the best price for the seller. Helping handle the negotiations between the buyer and seller, acting as intermediary for the client.Moving to Spain to take the lease of unit with only one toilet and convert it into restaurant in Spain is challenging especially to build the property from nothing. Having solicitor and signing a business lease then finding a competent and trustworthy architect to plan and give you guidance on what is need is really important. Then you start and the Timeline to open and make money. Then the month’s role on and reality kicks in and the owner of the main contract falls and breaks his leg and new contractor has to come in and finish the job. In the back ground the architect is not as competent as he said and has not provided the right advice or drawings which the council will not approve and all around you is the Spanish culture of doing business. All of this can give you real life experiences in dealing with different people from different cultures.

Carried out regular monitoring, evaluating and reviews of the health and safety provision to ensure staff and trainees within the company and those being externally trained are following the HSEQ systems. Managed and co-ordinated the teaching team during operations and activities within the mechanical, electrical, joinery, fabrication and welding departments to ensure safe and environmental procedures were carried out. Audited and inspected every part of the company as well as external companies with apprentices in all disciplines. Implemented the Scottish Quality Management System (SQMS) and IIP quality systems from 1995 and both were audited externally each year for compliance. Worked closely with Grampian Enterprise Skill Seekers programme for Health and Safety issues and for payments programmes. Was Audited and Monitored each year by the Grampian Enterprise Health and Safety Team to ensure the prevailing working conditions and safe working practices were carried out within the company and with external trainees in different organisations on apprenticeships for each trade. Joined the Junior Leaders in Shorncliffe as boy soldier and then joined the Gordon Highlanders, specialising in all aspects of military activity and training. Trained for 2 weeks in Nuclear, biological and chemical warfare at portadown. I was trained weapons instructor and battle field commander working in conflict combat field conditions. I was deployed to South America in Belize and worked in the jungle with the indigenous population. I was also on exchange for 6 months with the Australian Army and working in the jungle training schools at different part of the Australian army. During my time in Australia I trained for month and qualified as demolition expert.
