As Deputy Director of ILR’s Labor and Employment Law Program, Cecilia Oyediran designs curriculum and provides instruction on workplace law to employers and workers, including social equity participants in NY’s cannabis industry and justice-involved individuals. In her previous position, Cecilia provided legal guidance and support to clients in the legal cannabis industry, specializing in matters related to licensing, regulatory compliance, and other related issues. Cecilia further expanded her legal expertise by gaining valuable in-house experience as Corporate Counsel at a publicly traded multistate company. In this role, she leveraged her legal acumen to provide comprehensive counsel and support to the company in the areas of commercial transactions, labor/employment, compliance, and real estate, navigating the complex legal landscape of the cannabis industry and ensuring compliance with regulations across multiple jurisdictions. Cecilia serves as Chair of the Cannabis Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and is a frequent speaker and panelist on a range of issues related to cannabis legalization, social equity, and corporate law.

The New York State Cannabis Workforce Initiative is a collaboration between the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University and the Workforce Development Institute. Also work with students one-on-one to further develop the individual’s professional skills including resumes, phone and email communication, and interviewing.-Served as the liaison between TechBoston and the PIC staff by providing guidance and support to PIC career specialists, particularly those in schools with technology pathways. Support TechBoston programs by communicating with PIC career specialists to assist with student recruitment and other volunteer requests.-Led corporate outreach for PIC and TechBoston by hosting employer-related events designed to expand network of corporate support and the cultivation of new internship placements. Attend networking events hosted by technology trade associations and other industry organizations to expand the pool of potential employers.
