I was responsible for conducting research on different projects with a focus on the conservation of mineral building materials such as natural stone and ancient mortars and plasters. The work involved the design and testing of conservation products such as calcium based nanomaterials for stone consolidation and the characterisation of samples from historic buildings and monuments. Laboratory techniques included SEM-EDX, PLM, UPV, colourimetry and water transport properties tests.
