I started a seaman career 29 years ago, have sailed on different kinds of vessels that brought me a good sense of seamanship and then stabilized myself on cable ships at the beginning of this millennium. I have now 22 years of experience in submarine cable industry, from Mate / DP Operator to Master / Operation Manager, position that I have hold from 2009 to 2020. It ensured me to cover all the types of cable operations, from pre-installation survey to Post Lay Inspection and Burial. I also experienced some other offshore activities.As a Master, I was responsible for the successful voyages of the vessels in all aspects, with due regard to the various regulations (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL...).As an Operation Manager, I was ultimately responsible for all on board activities undertaken on behalf of the vessel operator and fully aware of the main terms of the contracts.I was approving the full set of the work procedures regarding to the cable operations and ensuring their implementations by ordering and coordinating the different cable departments.I was in close contact with the Project Managers for operational choices, major changes in work procedures and any contractual matters.I was also in charge of preparing and following up the works programs, liaising with the representatives for onboard queries, non-conformances and ensuring clients approval of revisions and changes to scheduled procedures.Last and least, I was issuing daily reports as well as investigating, analysing and reporting any cable incident.
