One of the markets with a lot of potential for additive manufacturing is the tooling industry for production lines. This because there is a need for tools that are robust, easy to use, accurate and, most importantly, unique for each product design.Materialise has a lot of experience with additive manufacturing. Rapid Fit + (Materialise daughter company) is already a well know player in the Fixturing business. Combining these two assets, Materialise has the goal to become your best partner for unique production tooling. My task as Project Engineer is twofold: • One main challenge is to organise our internal kitchen to streamline our added value to the market. This by building on our existing knowledge and expanding our skills with every new project. • My other responsibility is as leading contact for all internal and external stakeholders, for every customer project. This entails guiding the costumer from concept proposal, via multiple design iterations, to product fabrication and feedback after delivery.

As a project engineer at the certified manufacturing team for the BeNe (Belgium-Netherlands) market, I'm responsible to assist and guide costumers in implementing additive manufactured solutions into their established business. Technical, organisational and financial factors are overseen. Projects are considered successes when added value is maximized by a good costumer understanding, operational excellence and deep technical knowledge.

Peru

Solid Food Peru is involved in the production, processing and export of quinoa from the highlands of Ayacucho (Peru). The company aims to control as many steps as possible in the supply chain. Not only by vertical integration, but also by setting up very strong partnerships with independent key-players.Together with Laurent Châtel and Thibault Vergote, I had the opportunity to spend 7 weeks in Ayacucho and Lima (Peru) as part of our internship.We researched the environment in which the company is active. This included a national and international study of the quinoa market, the juridical climate in Peru, etc. Next to the external research, we also proposed some optimizations for the internal working. These were related to the fields of supply chain, management accounting, human resources, quality control, etc.All this information was handed over to Solid Food Peru in the form of a consultancy paper.
