Research Intern At The Creative Marketplace Lab On Data, Skills And Technology

Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

As a Research Intern at the Department of Canadian Heritage Creative Marketplace Lab on Data, Skills, and Technology, I led an independent research project for over 4 months with minimal supervision. I performed a qualitative meta-analysis review through Google Scholar and Toronto Metropolitan University's (formally Ryerson University) digital library archives to uncover articles relevant to copyright literacy for the digital age. I synthesized the literary information and cross-tabulated and filtered preliminary quantitative results from surveys in order to collate and analyze my findings. I produced a 7,000+ word paper speculating that visual artists have diversified their sources of revenue to include income from digital and Internet-based streams, such as royalty licenses on web platforms and online paid downloads of their work. The empirical results demonstrated that emerging visual artists do not participate in Internet revenue streams at a level previously described.Tasks and Responsibilities:- Supported the research team by identifying and organizing a stakeholder contact list for the Canadian Artists and Content Creators Economic Survey- Contributed to facilitating and leading a workshop discussion on the future of work at Canadian Heritage- Wrote a literature review on the topic of copyright literacy for early career visual artists in Canada- Analyzed and interpreted quantitative survey results and created empirical graphs for a slide deck and report- Completed a 7,000+ word independent research project and presented the empirical results to colleagues
